In the summer of 2019, I began to explore astrology and tarot. I was curious and had moved far away enough from my dogmatic upbringing to be open to it. I quickly dove into astrology once I found out there there was more than just sun signs. There was a an entire chart filled with planets, points, angles, asteroids, layed out in a unique way tuned to the exact moment and location you were born. A soul blueprint that could illuminate your past, present, and potential future. I was captivated and thus went down a rabbit hole. Everything I read was so accurate to me, and the more I learned and absorbed, the more I began to understand myself—and feel understood. I was already tracking the moon phases, but I wasn’t so invested in astrology up until that point. I was still skeptical—and nervous—about tarot but entertaining it every now and then. Around the end of 2019, I went through a massive tower moment. My marriage ended, I was rear-ended and left with a concussion and fell painfully ill (with what I am certain was covid) all within the span of 72 hours. My life essentially fell apart and then it punched me right in the face while I was already down. Everything shifted in a moment…as did my psychic abilities.

I began to use tarot more as a tool for self-reflection, but quickly got wrapped up in the potential addictiveness of it. It was like the dial had been turned up on all my innate sensitivities. I was not only free from an unhealthy relationship, but my energy was wide open. I didn’t know what my own energy felt like because I had been so numb to it from abusing substances and working through post-partum depression, on top of the bags I had already been carrying since childhood. I was ripe for my energy to be taken advantage of and accessed by people and energies that weren’t the greatest. It wasn’t until over a year—and one very spiritually traumatizing connection later—that I was introduced to Reiki, and everything changed again.

Reiki helped me clear things up and out in a gentle way. In 2021, I received my first Reiki treatment, as a birthday gift to myself. It was the first time I ever felt in my body. I had suddenly become aware of my knees, and it felt so strange. My practitioner told me it was because she grounded me. This, was amazing. I had no idea how disconnected I had been, or what it felt like to consciously be in my vessel. Mind you, this session was done distantly. Me, here in Hawai’i, her in Texas. To say my mind was blown was an understatement. The way she described things to me, what she saw and experienced, was so incredibly on point for not knowing anything about me, not even what I looked like. I was sooooo in. Not a month later I purchased an online course for Reiki 1, 2, and Master and was attuned to 1 and 2.

Reiki has helped me not only become much more aware of my own energy but has also taught me how to protect and cleanse it. These simple practices—energy healing, divination, and astrology—alone have helped me release and expand so much in the past 4 years. Now, in 2025, I’m a Reiki Master, and gearing up to start teaching those who also feel called to utilize these wonderful tools to support the soul evolution that so many of us are being encouraged to embrace—all from the place where Reiki was first introduced to the west!
